Kolb Aircraft Project

I am building a Kolb Mark III Xtra with Flaps and a Rotax 912ULS engine. Skip to construction photos. Coming in Oct 04: Why this aircraft and engine?

This is the factory demonstrator I flew at Oshkosh 2003. Flight impressions

Rotax 912ULS

100 HP

Liquid cooled heads

Air cooled cylinders

2.43 to 1 propeller gear reduction

Warp 72" 3-blade propeller.

I'm the guy sitting in the plane.

Notice this plane was built with Flaperons: instead, I am building the more traditional separate flaps and ailerons to suit my flight preferences and previous experience.

When the plane is flying, the nose is low and the tail is high, giving remarkable forward visability; the windshield goes all the way down to my toes.
